Asset Tracking
TW have provided a range of asset management services to small, medium and large organisations for several years, including captures of more than 20,000 assets in some cases!
Our system, Capture-fm is a complete asset management solution, utilising handheld computers to collect information and then transfer the data to the Capture-fm database system.
All the field names are user definable within the database and on the PDA, so it can be configured to suit your exact requirements.
The system has been developed using the latest .Net platform from Microsoft and utilises Microsoft SQL Server as the database platform. This not only provides security and easy expansion, but also makes the software extremely quick and responsive.

We use a comprehensive asset management system for the capture and subsequent auditing of asset information. It would be particularly effective for tracking equipment that hasn’t been tagged by the manufa cturer and is very effective for subsequent auditing of equipment that has moved around the organisation. The asset management solution utilises palmtop computers which have integrated Barcode scanner technology to collect information and then transfer the data at a touch of a button to the asset management database system. Each asset can be uniquely tagged and scanned eliminating any typing errors.
The system is completely user definable, so that all the field names within the Database and on the Palmtop can be configured to suit your particular requirements. The system has the ability to set-up the number of questions that are displayed on the palmtop. It also allows information to be preset against each question so that the answers can be selected from a picklist on the palmtop, enabling a more standardised list of results. For example, a question relating to manufacturer could have pre-set, Dell, IBM, HP etc. By selecting the correct name from the list, it speeds up the process and eliminates errors.
Data Capture
The data capture on the palmtop, works by applying barcodes to each location and recording its details such as site, building, floor, department and room. Within each location, uniquely numbered barcodes are applied to each asset, then scanned and when the relevant questions are displayed, the answers are selected from picklists or entered.
Additional functionality of the palmtop also allows the user to repeat assets previously captured during a survey and also to link assets together.
The process of linking assets together is a simple one. By scanning the Main asset i.e. the parent, then the sub assets i.e. the children, the link is created. Once transferred to the database, reports can be run on which assets link to each other. Ideal when planning to move I.T equipment or workstations, or if you want to establish staff responsibility for equipment they use.
The repeat process enables a high number of identical assets to be captured by the system very quickly. It works by scanning the asset needed to be repeated. Then scanning the first of the repeat asset numbers and then the last asset. The system calculates the total number of assets - leaving you to only attach the barcode labels. For an office with all the same type of laptops, it makes the process very quick and easy.
Auditing
Once assets have been bar-coded and the results stored in the asset management database, only a few questions need to be updated throughout the life of an asset. If the asset is moved, all that is scanned is the location barcode and then the asset code. All the base information is already stored. Other questions such as condition, fault, user, may be added and these are all user definable.
